Non-Disruptive Business Data Protection & Information Life Cycle Management using FDRINSTANT from Innovation Data Processing
Listen to an informative discussion on INNOVATION support for the latest zServer storage hardware
technology by storage management expert Bruce Black, as he reviews the impact FDRINSTANT can have as an anytime data
availability solution for non-disruptive Business Data Protection and Information Life Cycle Management, that unlocks
the potential of ABR to employ Dataset Level FlashCopy (FCv2), SnapShot, TimeFinder and ShadowImage point in time data
replication technology to meet the demand for 24 x 7, real-time incremental disk backup, non-disruptive tape
backup/archive, host-less VSAM dataset copy/move and INSTANT on demand Business Recovery.

The Next Generation of FDR/UPSTREAM Reservoir: A Non-Mainframe Solution
Simplified Backup Storage Management with Upstream Reservoir
With the introduction at Long Beach 2004 SHARE conference of the UPSTREAM Reservoir
Innovation Data Processing’s FDR/UPSTREAM product expanded its reach far into the enterprise with support for an
extensive array of open systems tape drives.
A recent survey by the Aberdeen Group of more than 100 large IT users found that the
backup/restore process still brings the most storage related anxiety to enterprise IT managers. To resolve this
anxiety this session will introduce and explore the capabilities of the UPSTREAM Reservoir Storage Server that reduces
the complexity of the backup management process resulting in more manageable and consistent operations. This session of
the UPSTREAM Reservoir will detail how this is done with UPSTREAM Reservoir facilities such as silent installation, email
event notification, Reservoir’s Dispatcher, its comprehensive integrated job scheduler, and also an automatic upgrade
capability. Discussion will also include UPSTREAM’s data reduction techniques that can facilitate large scale backups
reliably but not at the cost of easy and consistent recovery.
Featured also will be discussion of the plug-compatible format of both FDR/UPSTREAM and the
UPSTREAM Reservoir backup servers where backup tapes can be interchangeable for media that is compatible. And
for tapes that are not compatible UPSTREAM supports copying to a compatible media and importing the backup data.

FDRPAS - User Experience and Ask the Experts Panel
Responding to SHARE attendees requests for practical examples of what to consider in different
migration situations, the speaker reviews moving data to new disk storage without disrupting normal operations, by
looking at the first hand experience of customers, professional services staff and the IBM TotalStorage Piper Team,
who non-disruptively migrate active system volumes to new storage hardware both locally and across extended distances,
with FDRPAS.
Drawing on their experience, expert speakers assess the strengths and limitations of alternative
hardware or software mechanisms with FDRPAS, INNOVATION's data migration solution, being an example of a software
data migration solution.
